The Feel Something Files: The Non-Negotiable Products in My Wellness Routine
What I want and revisit that makes me feel like me
The Feel Something Files is my personal cart of inspiration. Curation is no longer an act of control, but a way to practice self-definition. It reinforces who I am and what I care about. It’s about building a life that feels like me. Checking out just makes it all the more fun.
If last week’s post was an ode to my essential wellness modalities that I actually stick to and prioritize, then this is the week I name the actual products and people I can’t stop talking about.
Protein
I’m not tracking macros, but I make it a priority to get protein in at every meal. It gives me energy and actually keeps me full, which, for me, is saying a lot because I’m always hungry (chasing a toddler around, strength training, and having 2 businesses will do that).
That said, I’ve been on a mission to find a protein powder that doesn’t taste terrible… because most of them do. I’ve finally landed on two I genuinely love:
Perelel Triple-Support Protein: 20g of protein, 5g of fiber, and 3g of creatine, a pretty unbeatable combo. This is my first time taking creatine, so the jury’s still out on noticeable results, but the creamy vanilla flavor alone sold me.
Veracity Metabolic Power Protein: Also 20g of protein, plus 4g of fiber. I’m obsessed with the cinnamon, vanilla flavor. Beyond tasting great, it’s formulated to support metabolism and muscle building.
I use both in my overnight oats, and I make pancakes with the Veracity protein powder. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I get the ritual now, because that’s exactly how I feel about my breakfast. I genuinely look forward to it.
Recipes below:
OVERNIGHT OATS
Serves 1
½ cup dry oats
½ cup water
A couple of blackberries
1 banana
Protein powder (serving size as recommended)
In a bowl or mason jar, mash the banana and blackberries until they form a creamy base. Add the oats, water, and protein powder, and mix until fully combined. Refrigerate overnight and enjoy!
PROTEIN PANCAKES
Serves 1
½ cup dry oats
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 banana
½ tsp baking powder
2 scoops Veracity Protein Powder
1 egg
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Heat a pan over medium heat and add some avocado oil. Cook the batter like pancakes until golden on both sides.
Trusted Nutritional Experts
Having an eating disorder can make you seek out nutrition support in ways that aren’t always helpful, especially when body image is already fragile. Needless to say, I’ve worked with more nutritionists and dietitians than I probably needed to. But there have also been a few real bright lights in my journey, people I genuinely recommend working with or following.
Mia Rigden: A nutritionist and trained chef, Mia Rigden has given me an education in food, nutrition, and overall health that’s helped me make more grounded, sustainable decisions. I’ve worked with her one-on-one and also read her Substack religiously. I highly recommend both.
Shira Barlow: While we’ve never worked together one-on-one, I know Shira Barlow, MS, RD personally, have seen her speak (and debate), and read her Substack. She’s a registered dietitian and an incredible source of thoughtful, evidence-based nutrition guidance. Truly a wealth of knowledge.
Focus Support
And Repeat AndFocus is my go-to for mental clarity. I take it daily, and it genuinely helps me lock in. I actually forgot to take it one day last week, the first time in a long time, and had a noticeably harder time focusing. I co-created AndFocus, and as someone who deals with founder imposter syndrome, it really reinforced just how effective and powerful this formula is and that we made something really incredible.
